XXX Actress Kyra Dutt Talks About Co-Star Rithvik Dhanjani, Going Bold And Lip Job Allegations

AltBalaji’s latest web series XXX took the world of social media by storm the moment the makers dropped the trailer. The bold content has got netizens talking and the show finally premiered yesterday.  SpotboyE.com got in touch with Kyra Dutt who candidly answered out questions. Excerpts:

What was your reaction when the makers of XXX approached you for this bold character?
Balaji Telefilms got in touch with me for the role soon after I finished Calendar Girls. Initially, I was sceptical about my role as I have never done something this bold in my life. The only person who convinced me to do this role was my director, Ken Ghosh. He knew he wanted me for the film.

Tell us about the shooting experience? How much time did you take to finish the film?
Very long. Once I had said yes to the role, I completely trusted my DOP and the director. We discussed the story at-length in the beginning so that things were clear and above all, my co-star Rithvik made me very comfortable.



How comfortable were you flaunting your body?
I am confident about my body. I have done a number of swimsuit shoots before but this role was the boldest. As an artist I feel if you have said yes to a project, you need to give your 100%. While shooting, I just wanted to give my best no matter what the role requires. 

Did you know Rithvik before signing the film?
No, I had not met Rithvik before. We met for the first time during the series’ workshop with Ken.

Are you upset with the fact that XXX was supposed to be a film but landed up as a web series?
XXX was supposed to be a feature film but unfortunately, owing to certain reasons, the film kept getting delayed. It was supposed to release in 2016 but didn’t. However, as actors there is nothing we could do about it. When the film didn’t release until 2017, we gave up and thought the film is never going to see light of day. But when we heard that it’s finally going to release as a web series, it was a pleasant surprise.

Do you think it’s going to be a success on an OTT platform?
In current times, web has a huge fan base and content on the platforms are doing well. Lots of people are even watching films on web. I am happy that our hard work is out for people to see. 

Are people getting increasingly attracted to bold content these days?
Times are changing and we see a huge amount of bold content on the web. Actresses are becoming stronger performances and are not shy in front of the cameras.  In fact, I was discussing this with my director Ken when we were shooting for XXX. We realised that it is completely acceptable when films encompass item songs, raunchy lyrics or even situations where a woman is being eve-teased, however, the moment you see a film where a girl is in control of sexuality or openly discusses sex, it becomes a problem. I am glad that the times are changing and audience’s perceptions are changing as well. Hats off to the actresses who are pushing the edge and coming out of their comfort zones by saying no to the typical ‘girl next door’ roles.

Who do you think is the boldest actress today and why?
Radhika Apte. I love her; she is so confident about her body. She is hot, sexy and also a great performer. 



Are you afraid that you might get typecast?
I don’t understand this. If you are an actor, you have to play all sorts of roles. You can’t be playing the same kind of role all your life. When a guy does it, it’s completely acceptable. He can play a villain, a hero – anything. The moment a girl plays something like this why does she always get typecast? I think it’s really silly. I am not afraid because I am getting offers which would let me explore myself as an actor.

I’m sorry but it’s just sad how fake news spreads these days. You can check my social media. I am in LA and am completely healthy. Nothing is wrong with me.
